The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT)
This office manages the financial affairs of mentally incapable people who have no one willing or able to act on their behalf. As a last resort, the OPGT makes treatment decisions for incapable persons.
The OPGT also has authority to grant statutory guardianship for property, mediate disputes between attorneys or guardians and investigate allegations of abuse and neglect of incapable persons. The telephone number is 1-800-366-0335.
