Obituary for Conrad McDonald Adams

Conrad McDonald Adams
ADAMS, Conrad McDonald passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill on Friday, January 12, 2018. On January 18th he would have turned 88 years of age. He has been the loving husband of Merlene (nee King) for 62 years and beloved father of Ruth (Marilyn) and Carlisle and their spouses Jeff and Marion. He was the adored grandfather of Anne (Bobby), Sarah (Anthony), Raphael, Gabrielle and Nathanael and great-grandfather to Isaiah, Lia, Grace, Ethen and Aeyla.

Conrad was born in St. Vincent, West Indies to loving parents, Randolph and Mable Adams. He is survived by his sister Doris McKie (St. Vincent), brother Clairmont (Mississauga) and brother Edgar (St. Vincent) and pre-deceased by his parents, sister Amy Simon (USA), brother Milton, and sister Estelita (St. Vincent).

Conrad loved the Lord with all his heart and dedicated his entire life to serving Him. When his father took ill, he asked Conrad (only a teenager at the time) if he would take over as Superintendent of 2 Sunday Schools - each accommodating over 300 students. This was a great training ground for him and he continued his ministry; teaching and preaching throughout the Brethren Assemblies in the West Indies and Canada. He had a passion for music and learned how to play a number of different instruments. His greatest joy was time spent with family; singing and playing music together.

Conrad worked at York County Hospital (now Southlake Regional Health Centre) as a Medical Technologist in the Chemistry Department from 1966 to his retirement in 1992. He also worked as a Lab Technician in St. Vincent for many years prior to immigrating to Canada. He studied at the University of West Indies in Jamaica, School of Medical Technology in Hamilton and later completed a number of courses at the University of Toronto.

He never waivered from his Christian upbringing and demonstrated his great love for family and dedication to God in everything he did. He will be sorely missed.

May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to The Gideon's and The Kidney Foundation
