Story shared: Huron Science Is Saddened by Ralphs Loss

Although Ralph was in Guidance a Huron, over the years he was seconded to teach a course here and there in Science. He never minded sharing his expertise with us young teachers, always accompanied by a "this won't take long", however you had to keep in mind that this did not count the chatting and story that came along with it! In recent years, Ralph was always willing and helpful to offer help and advice with my Beaver and Cubs outings and badge work that included history around the town. We did not learn of his passing until late this week, and were saddened to miss his memorial. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, and his friends.

To the Magel Family Your father was one of most favorite teachers thought the years at Huron he was ready to listen, advise but never judge. he was a wonderful person I hope that gives you some comfort strong and remember you have your very own angel Pettigrew (former sudent)

Dearest Lianne, Daniel and Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear about your father's death, please accept my sincerest felt condolences to you and your families. I was very fond of your father, and enjoyed chatting with him whenever I ran into him these last years either at the Farmer's Market or at the Seniors Centre. He always seemed so vibrant and alive, not at all as if he wasn't well. I have so many good memories of him and all of you from the very first year we all moved here. And Lianne from your school years and friendship with Tina. You were one of my very favorite kids, please feel free to drop in or call me anytime if you need to talk about your father. I am here at the same old place, and I still have a kitchen stool similar to the one you used to sit on and talk my ears of on as a child. Danny and Jennie you too are always welcome here. It must be so hard to have lost both of your parents and another of your children's grandparents. Not much I can say other than think of the good times, and from experience I do know that once you have loved someone they are forever in your heart. All my sincerest felt condolences and love Mrs Pedersen or Lissie (what do you call me these days?)

Condolences to Ralph's family and many friends. Did not know he was in poor health so surprised by news of his recent passing. First met Ralph in the late 70s during Newmarket community activities and always enjoyed interacting with him over the past many years since. He seemed to really enjoy life to the fullest during his retirement years. A friend and fellow Theatre Member for over 25 yrs has been lost. In 1989 I had the chance to direct him in Finian's Rainbow an in 1992 he appeared on stage as Baby June's(Amber)Grandpa. Ralph was a wonderful dancer. I will never forget the polka around the Act-Co Ball floor, or the waltz he shared with many of us.

My deepest regrets to Jennifer and her family. Your father was truly one of the greatest teachers at Huron Hts. My children fondly remember him and even used to call him 'Grandpa' many years ago.
