MITCHELL, Richard William passed away suddenly at his home on 13 August 2016 at the age of 66. He was a dedicated and loving husband to Catherine Mitchell for 26 years. Beloved father of 4 sons, Eric Barrett, Gary Barrett, Andrew Mitchell and Christopher Mitchell and proud grandfather of Breanna Mitchell (Andrew) and Gianna Marie Barrett (Gary). Survived by his mother Glenice Mitchell and predeceased by his father Bill Mitchell (Toronto Police, Ret.) and sister Glenice Mallais.
Richard "Rick" had different sales careers throughout his adult life and was particularly known for his hard work ethic by his colleagues. He loved western movies, Star Trek, boating, classic cars; his favorite being his '55 Chevy but his main passion was his family and his love for his wife Cathy. Rick was also known as "coach" to many youths between 1989 - 2001. Rick volunteered his personal time to coach hockey for the Newmarket Hockey Association and baseball for the Newmarket Baseball Association during those years, acting as a role model and mentor to many kids. For those who knew Rick well admired him for his kindness and dedication to others. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Rick's family would like to thank everyone for their support during this sad time and will be having a Funeral service for him on 18 August 2016 at 3:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the chapel at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home in Newmarket, with a reception following immediately after the service.
